Why Princess Diana Loved Mario Testino

Looking at these images it’s easy to see why Mario Testino was Princess Diana’s favorite photographer, and someone she considered a trusted friend and ally.  The one thing that my years of modeling taught me is to never underestimate the power of a genius behind the camera.  They can capture something you never imagined could be seen by the outside world.

It’s a haunting and magical gift.  These shots of Diana are so deeply memorable, I consider them a part of our collective history and a shared culture reference.  It’s very easy to understand why William might hold a special affinity for Mario Testino (left) the man who was able to give him these remarkable lasting images of his beloved mother.
