From Hits to Misses MTV Music Awards Fashion Breakdown

2011’s MTV Music Awards brought the usual suspects of Fashion Hits-n’-Misses, with a few pitch-perfect picks & a few totally pathetic.  So let’s break it down.  The three stand-out “Black Carpet” stars for me were…Britney Spears, Victoria Justice, and Zoe Saldana.  Britney’s black shiny/sequined Moschino Mini-Dress (with amazing Black-Patent Peep-Toe Booties) looked RockStar-Chic, with an edge of grown-up sophistication.  Zoe Saldana looked 100% A-List in her stunning black-beaded mini-dress by Barbara Bui, and Victoria Justice was a Silver-Dream in her “Metallic Mini” Theia Dress.  All three rocked their looks from head-to-toe, bringing it home with their accessories/beauty choices, that both elevated and enhanced their entire looks.  Splashes of Neon (left) were also a “Fashion-Do” of the evening.

On the flip side of the coin we had Katy Perry looking a little too corny in her Versace, with some questionable accessories, and Jessie J camouflaging her broken foot with a beaded body-suit and crutches.  But bringing home the seriously pathetic award was Nikki Minaj. With stuffed animals stuck all over her, she looked transparent and cartoonish – and too hungry to grab the Gaga-throne.   And, of course, the “Worst Group” look most definately went to the girl-gang from Jersey Shore (below).

While Katie Holmes and Demi Lavato weren’t such offenders, they do win for “Looks that were just trying too hard.”  Katie always appears to be playing a role – last night I guess she was trying to play the “Cool Chick” but it came off cheesy (as usual).  And while I thought Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus both looked pretty, they both appeared to be out of their element.  Kim looks like she belongs at a black-tie event, and Miley has aged herself by about 20 years.  So even at a show where Everything-Goes, there is still alot of Style F*#&-Ups.  Check-out more at People.com.
