Raquel Zimmermann by Inez and Vinoodh for Vogue Paris

The recently anointed Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris (Emmanuelle Alt) shows her “Couture-Chops” in November’s fashion-editorial “Haute-Couture”, featuring stunning designs from Chanel, Elie Saab, and Atelier Versace (via fashiongonerogue).  In what only can be described as an “Ode to the Glamazons”, this fashion-editorial by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoohd Matadin pays serious tribute to the hey-day of the “Super-Model.” I can’t help but feel a nostaligic twinge, as this was the age that I came up in the world of modeling. And while I was never at the dizzying-heights of the “Fab-Five” of the 90’s – Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer –  these images are a vibrant reminder of that time. Raquel Zimmermann fully captures the “Versace-Vibe” of those decadent years, and completely embraces the aggressive/arrogant posing-style indicative of that decade.  It was an over-the-top, indulgent time – where Too Much was Never Enough, and “Super-Models” played out that excess on the “Runways” and off. And while many of us were glad to see that era come to and end (and thank Kate Moss for her help in that regard), it was a thrilling time in the World of Fashion, and exciting to see it channeled through a “Super-Star” model of this generation, with these amazing pieces from the 2011/2012 Haute-Couture Collections.
