Kendra Spears in ‘Madame X’ by Mariano Vivanco for Muse Magazine

From Breakfast at Tiffany’s, one of the most beloved characters celluloid-history, Holly Golightly, is reinvented as “Madame X” by model Kendra Spears.  In the original film Audrey Hepburn turned the streets of Manhattan into her own fashion-playground, strolling up/down 5th-Ave in head-to-toe Givenchy.  In this playful layout for Muse Magazine’s Winter Issue, Mariano Vivanco captures the spirit of the “Swinging-60’s” with these fabulous images via fashiongonerogue.com.  This modern New York it-girl is less sassy and more sophisticated than the first.  An uptown version of the decidedly downtown Golightly.

With perfect A-Line retro-shapes from Lanvin, Ferragamo, Dior and Jil Sander any girl could summon the spirit of that era with these “Mod” inspired daytime looks.  Expertly executed winged-eyes and perfectly-placed-pouf help complete the look, that turns this vintage-homage into a modern-vision.  Mariano has given us a fashion-forward “referential-impersonation” of this iconic screen legend for the Style-Sophisticates among us.  I’m completely inspired by this fashion-story, and will be watching the film (for the 100th time) before the weekend is done.
