Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 Campaign

As the frantic race for fashion add-campaigns has commenced, a few stand-outs have begun to take their place at the head of the pack.  Staying true to his Muses of the Moment, Anna Piaggi and Lynn Yaeger, Marc Jacobs continued his eccentric trip down the Fall 2012 runway onto the pages of his 2012 A/W campaign.  In the spirit of all that is avant-garde and true, Jacobs seemed to dedicate this collection to the very Theater of Fashion.  Capturing his fashion-forward vision, Juergen Teller photographed Magda Laguinge, Marte Mei, Marie Piovesan, Tati Cotliar and Ros Georgiou in beautifully garish makeup, teetering under the weight of absurdly, huge fur hats.  And while there has been plenty of reference speculation thrown about – 17th Century Marie Antoinette, Mat Hatter, Pilgrim Style, Voluminous, ect. – I saw this stylish spectacle for exactly what it is.  A grand master exploring the grand tradition of Haute Couture.
