‘Le Noir Partie 2’ Aims to Thrill with a Stylish Chill Vogue Paris

Suvi Koponen stars in ‘Le Noir Partie 2,’ the second act of Mert & Marcus‘ epic tale of Fall Fashion 2012, seen in the September Issue of Vogue Paris.  In stark contrast to Partie 3 of the ‘Le Noir’ series, this eye-popping story is a vibrant visual feast, drenched in a harmony of bold shades.  Famous for their color saturated palettes, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggot give us a taste of their signature style, in this stunning layout that pays homage to the ‘Thriller King’ Alfred Hitchcock.  With bleached-out brows and very little makeup, Suvi is eerily perfect, playing a part where it’s not clear if she is victim or villain.  Keeping with the magazine’s ‘black theme,’ she wears a variety of dark designs by labels including Chanel, Gucci, Lanvin, Versace, Céline & Haider Ackermann – all lending to the ominous feel of the editorial.  Hero or heretic, we watch as our hollow-eye girl stands (very Children of the Corn style) among the fields of straw & daisies, powerfully motionless, under the crow-filled azure sky.  With the kind of sharp, richness that only technology could provide, these images are beautifully nerve-wracking, with just the right amount of avant-garde thrill.
