Like-minded people toiling at the work they love, round out the rush to Oscars in ‘The Movie Issue’ by Tim Walker for W Magazine. Reese Witherspoon, Keira Knightley, Benedict Cumberbatch, Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, Shailene Woodley, Emma Stone & Bradley Cooper honor Stella Adler’s words, ‘Without craft there can be no art.’ Master stylist Jacob K’s work erupts with six stunning images that captures this years’ best performances. From abstract wonder to future fusion, the power of these pics are in their playfulness. And, while perusing these images I would encourage that you refuse to get caught up in the comparative jostling. I have read some write-ups that express disappointment in what they consider “less than stellar” performances on the page. What I would like to remind them of is, the fact, that this is a medium completely foreign to many thespians. While they may be able to pull off “playing” models in a movie, their pictures will certainly be different than (real) top models. I think it’s beautiful that their ride into this realm carries the colors of reality. Both acting and modeling are different art forms, the power of this piece may be carrying that message forward.
