Vogue Features Olsen Sister’s “The Row”

Somewhat Schizophrenic, the Olsen’s The Row Fall 2011 Collection is a compilation of diverse looks from a variety of inspirational points.  Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen might just be Anna Wintour’s little darlings, because they have scored some pretty prime real-estate in Vogue’s April issue.  Their line “The Row” has had it’s problems with consistency over the last couple of years – cancelling their Spring Show-Case last Season at the very last minute – but it looks like they’re trying to get some attention with their Fall RTW Line.

Clearly not intimidated by the Hollywood “Peta Power”, this collection is dripping in fur and an odd racoon-tail like hat they’ve used as a kind of statement piece throughout the Preview – sadly, more distracting than attracting.  One of many fairly common mistake made by the bevy of amateur “Celebrity Designers” (Victoria Beckham Not Included).  This line is not completely without merit – it’s as if two little girls have raided their very wealthy grandmother’s wardrobe – who happens to be a 40’s film star, grabbing the most fabulous things they can find.  It has a kind of dramatic arc I can appreciate – but is also somewhat indulgent.
