Devour the Details, Bazaar Deco 2 Retro.

The Current “Photo-tour of Vintage Covers of Harper’s Bazaar” showing on Bazaar.com is absolutely worth your time.  Languid over the amazing compilation of Bazaar cover’s, advertisements, and editorial spreads –  starting from the late 1800’s.  While some of the more popular Covers will be recognizable,  it is still thrilling to match the style to it’s era.

Not surprising the most avant-garde images come from the years 1915-1930, while the sharp-soaring style of the 1950’s is a feast 4 the eyes.  Some of the pictures are just ridiculously chic, and even by today’s standards, still have a forward feeling edge. The style cuts like a knife, razor-sharp fashion meant to Kill!!

My advice is to look at this retrospective with new-eyes.  Don’t view it like you’re walking through a museum – look at it as you would a Smokin’ Haute Runway Show.  Devour the details of the designs and artistic direction, and I guarantee you will be inspired.

When I look at the most decadent looks from the 1920’s I think of Evening-Chic and how the wicked details make the difference.  And the delicious images from the 50’s (like my all-time fave Bazaar Cover – Left) catapult me into a time where the simplest daily events could be turned into a fashion moment.  Why not meet your girl-friend for your afternoon coffee in your version of a “Tea-Dress”.  Fun Fun Fun…
