Images from vogue.globo.com. Although I think we would all agree the Jennifer Lopez is beautiful, this look is just Played-Out.  We saw a plethera of clean faces with bold lips on the runway this season, but the look was updated. Long gone are the fake spider eye-lashes and heavy lined lips, with matte-red lipstick spackled on for dear life.  Jennifer’s look is out-dated and aging.  Take a page out of Emma Stone’s Beauty-Book and you will shine this Spring.  Her perfect shade of Pink/Magenta has transformed this trend without losing any of it’s punch.

Isabella Lucas (left), Jessica Alba, and Stella McCartney took the “Hair-Ornament” trend to another level.  I was thrilled to see the elaborate and sophisticated details of these beautiful hair pieces.  The success of these looks are determined by the fact that they don’t overwhelm the person or the entire ensemble…The key to this kind of head-gear is to elevate not wear-down. The 2 most important factors when choosing hair-jewelry is;  Face-Shape and Hair-Style.  Isabella can pull off the heaviest piece because of her strong features, Jessica has considered her narrow face and correctly chosen a strand that sits further back on the crown, and designer Stella McCartney’s deco-inspired Hair-Pin works with her delicate features and simple chignon hair-style.

The battle of the buns is a long running fight.  It’s difficult to get the right High-Bun style without looking like a ballerina, or worse, a school teacher.  Both of these girls benefit from their starting point – they’re young.  Elle Fanning (left) has gone more tradition with a Bun Bordering on Boring, but just saved by her fabulous hair color (Blake Lively Chic) and clean lines.  But Margherita Missoni’s version is the clear winner.  This High-Bun has gone for High-Style, and gives a chic-edgy feel that perfectly accompanies her unique neck-piece.

Fergie (left) and Kate Hudson are known for their style and have both found the perfect accessory for their long tresses.  When you approach hair-jewelry for long hair it’s a completely different animal.  As opposed to looking for that statement piece (Jessica Alba above), it’s about finding something that will almost become one-with-the-hair.  Fergie has gone for the idyllic long hippi-strands with cool detail/embellishment, highlighting the length of the hair.  And Kate has found a fabulous little piece that is bold but not over-whelming – perfectly mimicking her personality.  The confident placement of the hair-pin directly in the front-center of her part… is genius.
