Shorts Go Punk with Balmain & Balenciaga

These aren’t your mamma’s shorts.  This season the Punk-Trend has taken things to a new level. Moving beyond the leather leggings and ripped jeans, the designers that infused “Punk-Chic” into their Spring 2011 Collections’, added some much needed versatility and diversity to this ever-evolving look that always finds it’s way back to the runway.

During the Spring 2011 Shows, Balmain (below) was definitely the “Leader” of this particular Punk-Movement, but many designers got down/dirty with a little punk-rock edge of their own. Balenciaga shook things up with their version (above) that had a vintage 80’s vibe – and looked like pieces taken from the set of a cool techno-pop video straight from that era.

Add a Little Punk into Your Life…  I agree with a review I read on this trend claiming this kind of look has a “DIY” quality that inspires people to try and recreate these ensembles on their own, and forgo paying thousands of dollars on designer pieces.  In the context of losing potential buyers, I guess I see the problem – but for our purposes here as fashionCOW – this is exactly what we are looking for.  How can we take fabulous trends and make them work for us today.

And in the case of Punk-Chic there does have to be some editing done to get this trend from “Runway2Realway”, however, I do see alot of potential cool-looks that will add some serious spice to your Spring/Summer wardrobe.
