Marc Jacobs Added a Little Sass to Spring Color-Blocking Story
Posted Sep 14, 2011
Continuing through our Spring Fashion Week Reviews, my interpretation of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2012 Collection (via Style.com), was “Color-Blocking on Speed.” While there was enough of the signature MJ Sass, with cool-chic shapes, and rebellious/edgy “Out of the Lines” colors/prints – the huge swatches of Colors bumping up against other Colors, felt a bit regressed and distracting. I kept trying to tell myself that I just wasn’t getting it, and that any moment it was all going to click-in. That’s the kind of “Blind Commitment” us hardcore fashionistas feel toward some of these designers that have lived inside our “Fashion Fantasies” for years. It can feel sac-religious to speak anything but hard-core praise for these “Sartorial Masters”, that are the creators of so many of our Objects of Our Desire. But strictly honestly, I would say that some of the pieces did leave me scratching my head, and at times I felt like I was watching a different show – like maybe one meant for the “Sports Arena?” But having said that, mixed in (below) are some seriously-chic outfits that I would Die to Own. And that pretty much says it all. I’m a “Die-Hard” Marc Jacobs fan – and nothing’s gonna’ change that!
