Alexander McQueen left a huge hole in the fashion industry following his tragic suicide last year. However, we all took a collective sigh of relief when we saw Kate Middleton step-out in her gorgeous “Alexander McQueen” Wedding Gown, created by the talented Sarah Burton. In was at once clear, the “House of McQueen” had been left in very capable hands.
And as we got to see today, Paris was alive with the memory of the great Designer, as his legacy took to the Runway for the presentation of the Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 Collection, designed by Sarah Burton. Each and every piece a perfect tribute to McQueen – The Man…The Myth…The Legend.
While there was just enough edgy-extreme peppered throughout the show, with masked-veils/dominatrix knee-hi lace sandals, to give you a dose of that “Paris-Couture” vibe he was so known for, the real show belonged to the Ladies. As far as the eye could see, gorgeous gowns with Lace/Ruffles/Beads/Feathers that would bring a grown woman to her knees. The exquisite details/lines of these dresses called back to a time when sophistication ran supreme, and the power of the “Flirt” didn’t go unnoticed. Even with the lace masks, this was a collection clearly made for women of wealth and privilege. For the entire Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 Collection, go to NYMag.com.
