2011’s Haute-Couture a Beacon of Artistic-Hope in V Magazine

In the current V Magazine “Model Issue”, we see the celebration of the Haute-Life played out in this stunning “Ode’ to Couture”, by the innovative team of Daniele & lango.  Models –  Saskia de Brauw, Emily Baker, Candice Swanepoel, Zuzanna Bijoch, Joan Smalls, Aymeline Valade, Kristina Salinovic, and Valerija Kelava make a stunning statement as they showcase some of this Season’s most jaw-dropping works of “Fashion-Art.”  Against the gritty backdrop of an aging gymnasium – complete with the jagged metal-edges of worn-out equipment cages and heavy rusted iron-chains – these pieces from Chanel Haute-Couture, Giorgio Armani Prive’, Valentino Couture, Atelier Versace, Azzedine Alaia, and Givenchy Couture stand as a beacon of creative-hope.  Each year these designers take a step out of their “RTW” designer-mode’, and create works of innovation and avant-garde triumph.  It’s a world that is a million miles away from the every-day commercialized world of “designer-fashion”, however, one could not exist without the other.  While most people will never get within a mile of a true “Couture” pieces, they will always be a powerful/influential force in the world of design/fashion.  So before you dismiss these looks out of hand, or treat them like some museum-works (meant to be at arms length), really look at the motion of the lines and start to imagine the vision behind them – this truly is what dictates the momentum that drives fashion-forward style-evolution.
