Go From Ski-to-Chic In Fab Winter-Brights From Elle Ukraine
Posted Dec 29, 2011
Things are poppin’ at the top of the mountain, in this fabulously-frigid layout for the January Issue of Elle Ukraine. Featuring Nordic beauty Isa Asklof, doing her best “Ski-Bunny Couture”, in a rainbow of chic Winter-Brights. With cozy knits/cashmere/fur – from top designers Jil Sander, DSquared2, and Sportmax – the ski slopes have never looked so decadent. Nikolay Biryukov is right on-trend with this “cool” editorial highlighting one of the most exciting new movements happening this season, “Winter Brights.” Never before have we seen colors so “reborn.” With shades that have always been associated with Spring, it’s exciting to see them re-imagined. And although the color-schemes may be the same, the varieties of teal/yellow/red/green are decidedly different than their Spring counterparts. The fabulous shades of Winter are no less bold than Spring, but they are absent the shiny-neon undertones. Rather, they hit you with a burst of solid color. These shots of color manage to be both bold/flat simultaneously, giving them a charged sophistication. And with the many forms of “color-blocking” that tend to infiltrate the designs of this season, it allows for unique-pairings, with more cohesive results. With these exciting combinations taking place in the clothing, it stands to reason that we get to Bring a little Bright into the makeup choices as well. Vibrant turquoise lined eyes matched with a cherry-red lip, is a pretty dynamic way to top-off the colorful clothing designs. And while we all can’t make it to the slopes of Aspen, or the Mountains of Europe, we can certainly steal these looks for the perfect Ski-to-Street Style. Images via FashionGoneRogue.com.
