Contemporary Art Meets Lady Gaga in Vogue L’Uomo

In this stunninly intimate look at the genesis of Lady Gaga’s artistic inspiration, we get – yet another – fascinating look at who this woman is by looking at who she allows “pass through her.”  And yes I know that phraseology borders on the intense & creepy, but we must concede that Gaga’s process is a truly unique hybrid of evolution and channeling, whereby she allows great contemporary artists of the past, to saturate her sensibilities to such an extent that when infused with her own genius-contribution, she becomes a musical vessel – open to “giving birth” to new work.

This type of transcendent event could be thought of as the ultimate “Universal Duet.”  Having long been accused of allowing that which inspires her too much influence, and with that level of dominate power, some of her critics question her authenticity.  However, after reading the truly educational piece by Francesco Bonami, for the February Issue of Vogue L’Uomo, the word derivative should be extinguished in connection to Lady Gaga.

Bonami gives us a historic-perspective of the grand lineage of contemporary artists that have beautifully-infected our young Gaga, passing on avant-garde ideas screaming for the Gaga-touch, reinvigorated and offered-up to a thriving new audience.  And for the “artistically-impaired” that is not the action of someone “borrowing” creativity, rather it is picture of bravery.  To continue to work in a vacuum, only to ensure constant praise & adulation, is the mark of an amateur (in my humble opinion).

To be willing to work for the greater good of cultural growth – with a contribution that is designed to be a part of a bigger picture – resigning your need for soul recognition, is heroic.  And in these adventurous images by the great Inez & Vinoodh, we are witness to her next avenue of obsession – beauty in the mechanical world – in other words…The Gaganator
