In this stunning fashion revival, Alexi Lubomirski brings back the drama of 50’s noir in ‘Angel in the Outfield,’ for the September issue of Numéro Tokyo #59. Mastering her surroundings, Candice Swanepoel engages in a little environmental interplay, creating a symphony of shadows & light, dancing in unison around her.  By transforming simple household items into avant-garde tools, the interchange between black/white & color, achieves a kind of Cinema of Fashion.  A man after my own heart, this prolific photographer never misses an opportunity to use the art of fashion to explore the greater themes of modern pop-culture.  And through this creative endeavors, we become the beneficiaries to his extensive years of education and travel. Under the tutelage of the great Mario Testino he developed his creative wings, but it’s clear his artistry runs deep. A visionary, his images are complex and layered pieces of style drama, rich with nuance & subtly. Simply put, he is a story-teller. Relevancy goes beyond trends, it’s the few who seize the moment and use their work to extrapolate and examine the world around them.  Great art doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it exists to incite & inspire, Alexi Lubomirski’s photography does that for me.
