While the theater of color puts on an exciting show the drama of dark can be a thrilling way to go. Reminding us that ‘Black Rules,’ Gwen Loos stuns in Feriet Tunc’s edgy editorial for Elle Taiwan. Coming out of the shadows this Spring, dark eyes/lips are taking their rightful position at the front of the fashion line. With decadent looks that aim at giving their colorful counterparts some serious competition, Black Beauty is breaking free from it’s Goth roots and making a true trend comeback. Following in fashion’s obsession, Dirk Jensma brings his own brand of noir-inspired makeup with looks like ‘Flying Eyes’ & ‘Decadent Pink,’ that fall more to the artistic side than the erotic. Passing on powerfully high pigment shades in favor of bold, black can be a desirable diversion from the redundancy of seasonal pastels.  When done right, there is nothing quite as stunning as perfectly painted deep-stained lips paired with the siren shade of kohl-rimmed eyes.  It’s a fashion moment made to deliver. But as with anything great, it’s all in the touch.  If you’re willing to suffer the price of precision you will find that this look with pay you back in spades .
