In this time of shattered spirits I turn to art for salvation, and there I find the calming presence of Lina Zhang, in ‘The Gentle Woman’ by Yin Chao for the April 2013 issue of Harper’s Bazaar China. Cathartic images capable of carrying the weight of the world, the greatest tragedies of our life can be trusted to the artful hands of today’s mindful masters. Daring depictions of darkness overcome, I look at this beautiful piece of preserved heartache and I see a reflection of humanity. A reflection that can never be destroyed by the savage brutality of empty violence. It is in the compassionate captures of brave photographers that I find hope. It’s in the beauty of shared pain that I see the strength of our people and feel the emphatic emanations of our collective soul. As we struggle with the jagged edges of raw emotions, we much avoid holding on to the hatred, and search for ways to heal. We must find passageways for the pain, so we can save our energy for the real war – the one waged on the page. Our most powerful source of protection is our intellect. So find what moves you, and Exorcise Your Anger with Art
