Ranya Mordanova by Nikolay Biryukov for 1Granary Magazine, Galliano Project

Ranya Mordanova plays the muse in ‘After Galliano’ by Nikolay Biryukov for 1Granary Magazine, the first (student run) Central Saint Martins publication. Inspired by the prolific art of Edward Hopper, The Galliano Project is a stark and stunning representation of modern realism. A man known for his stern disposition and unrelenting attitude toward his work, Hopper truly believed that, “great art was an outward expression of an inner life.” An intellect at heart, he trusted in the collaboration of the mind, knowing that a connection to the inner worlds was an imperative for higher creation. A palpable piece alive with yearning, in this dramatic editorial I feel the depth of emotion without being overwhelmed by pain. An important distinction, influenced by this unique style of altered realism, Biryukov’s version shares that same mix of brutal truth and thoughtful optimism.  Source (fashion in the zone).
