Passing through the portal of possibility Anmari Botha explores the many facets of herself in ‘It’s All About Attitude’ by Miles Aldridge for Vogue Italia. In expressive photography the use of symbolism to represent abstract ideas is nothing new, but Aldridge’s ability to build a visual bridge between the inner and outer worlds is truly amazing. Imparting his wisdom one super-saturated, style story at a time, in this hyper-vivid vision Botha takes a surrealistic voyage into the inner-sanctum of high style, where she splits off in a variety of character types. Dressing the part, (stylist) Alice Gentilucci uses her magic to create a series of fashionable factions ready to face whatever’s waiting on the other side. Is it an opening to opportunity or a means of escape, here we see the compelling metaphor of a doorway used to explore the chasm that exists between perception and reality. How we view the doors, as either and entrance or exit, exposes alot about how we view the world. Tapping into our collective psyche, this enlightened editorial teaches us the art of interpretation, with deceptively deep images designed to create a pathway to greater understanding.
