Ashleigh Good & Sylvester Henriksen play two sides of the same person in ‘It Was Perfect Once’ by Alex Franco for Russh Magazine. A daring depiction of modern duality this free-spirited series explores the idea of open-identity with imagery that fuses the masculine & feminine in an entirely integrated way. An artful act of open expression, (Fashion Editor) Gillian Wilkins’ symbiotic styling moves the narrative forward with Punk-Luxe looks created with a more fluid philosophy of fashion. Generation gender-neutral, today’s youth are looking to live beyond the borders of the imagination, where anything is possible and everything is acceptable. Although we’ve come to think of ourselves as open-minded, I submit, as a society we still use the concept of classification as a way to control. In the We Own the Night issue Franco isn’t just saying we have the right wear whatever we want, he’s saying we have the right to be whomever we want. The only avenue to absolute acceptance is allowing everyone the opportunity to fully explore all aspects of their being without judgement. True personal/creative freedom should come without limits – if what defines us also confines us then we must ask ourselves, are we truly living free?
