Chiharu Okunugi shows us the shape of things to come in ‘The Destiny of Punk’ by David Slijper for Vogue Japan November 2013. Delivering a kind of reverse form of rebellion (makeup artist) Virginia Young takes a more minimalist approach to Punk inspired beauty with styles that replace some of the extreme applications with cool, clean modern looks. Honoring the origins of anarchy (hairstylist) Ward Stegerhoek designs a series of coiffed creations, including multi-colored dews and edged-out accessories, with the crowning glory being a sick, safety pin tiara perfect for the modern day Punk Princess. Looking into the future, Slijper’s predictions for Punk revolve around allowing the trend evolve artistically while still keeping connected to it’s roots.
