Playing the painted lady Kate Moss is ravenous in red in ‘Scarlet Woman’ by Javier Vallhonrat for Vogue UK, October 2013. Channeling Gypsy Rose Lee, Moss delights as a dark-haired dream in this vintage inspired showgirl series that takes us back to the decadent days of Burlesque. Reviving retro-glam, Lucinda Chambers designs an opulent scene straight off of a 1930’s film set, with a stunning mix of show-stopping styles including a gold-encrusted, silk corset. Borrowing from the bold beauty of the era (makeup artist) Lucia Pieroni dares to pair raging red with eye-popping purple for a fab face you won’t soon forget. And for hips that match the lips, she manages to mimic the bejeweled effect of Dolce & Gabbana’s high-wasted ruby knickers with a perfectly painted, glittered pout. Ever-evolving and always intriguing, this subtle (yet staggering) imagery reminds us why Kate Moss remains such a powerful force within the fashion industry.
