Inspired by David Bowie’s enormous impact on modern pop-culture, this psychedelic story celebrates the enduring spirit of the 70’s, and his alter ego, Ziggy Stardust. Creating a perception of multiple images, the dizzying effects in this explosive editorial create the illusion of double vision while still remaining perfectly in balance. Glam rock with a hit of punk pop (stylist) Marina Malavasi pulls out all the stops with an eclectic mix of modern looks designed to disturb. Breaking all the rules, from the power-pixi purple cuts of Alessandro Squarza & Marisa Ricchiuti to the purposely off-kilter eyes of (makeup artist) Seiko Nishigori, this is beauty that screams anti-establishment chic. Reminding us of a time when the streets were just an extension of the stage, Bowie believed that fashion was a tool of self expression and a way for the voiceless to be heard.
