Stella Tennant, Edie and Jean Campbell capture the power of pure cover-art shot by Alasdair Mclellan for i-D Magazine, Summer 2015. Saucy styles seen through the eyes of Alasdair. This photographer extraordinaire gives his talents to the entirety of i-D’s 35th Birthday Issue. A coming of creation, haute couture echos independence while still longing for a connection. Stylist, Benjamin Bruno, invites fluid fashions to flow free as each page focuses on the forward. Divergence explodes as the art of avant-garde relevance pays homage to its heritage. Bold images examine all sides, from overt sensuality & sexual role play to revved-up 60’s funk. Neo-pics don’t just explore an era they honor the unique influence of vintage designs. Disparate yet daringly connected, (Makeup Artists) Lucia Pica & Lynsey Alexander go from clean to extreme with beauty that is more about becoming. Eyes erupt from graphic lines drawn across the lids to mod shapes that make makeup pop. The in-between eeks out specific looks with faces that range from infinitely edgy to powerfully pure. Wearing a burlap sack transformed into a full-body burka, pretty takes a back seat as intensity leads the show. Hairstylist, Anthony Turner & Malcolm Edwards, make the most out of millinery with dynamic head shapes that deliver a punch. Past/Future collide as (Set Designer) Andy Hillman melds indoor space with outdoor environments for a trip into another world.
Echos in the Distance
Longing for hope
wanting to say
by a talking tree
I sit and I pray,
of sparkling prose
that makes me shine
like teetering poetry
that will tie my line,
to a phantom ghost
that I hold so near
to scare away
the long-held fears,
silent prophecies
and secret words
fly through the air
like prophetic birds,
so I hold on tight
and won’t let go
for in the end…
to be is foretold.
