Casey Brooks draws from her contemporary dance background in ‘Antithesis‘ a dynamic video done for Garage Magazine. Celebrating the beauty of becoming, 8 fearsome creatures find their way into a Kaleidoscope of color. Caught in the fluidity of movement, to ask yourself why is to let yourself fly high. Stylist, Tati Cotliar, embarks on a collision course of creativity by filling spaces with the concept of no constraints. Long limbs flow free as each film-grab fuels the fire of active fashion. Facing the future, (Makeup Artist) Paul Blanch brings the avant-garde beauty of today’s youth forward. Features speak, from hot-pink lips that light up the stage to jet-black eyes that steal the show. Hairstylist, Dee Daly, takes it from a high, blonde pony & two-toned dew to dueling top-knot buns. ‘Each character conveys a message of strength, with non-words that are written with the art of the body.’ Combining forces, (Choreographer) Dana Foglia & (Producer) Nosaj Thing inspire ingenuity with modern choreography backed by a mesmerizing track. Spiraling colors and dizzying movements create the perfect canvas upon which these pioneers realize their ambition. Proving the most powerful devices are those that use the mind, suspend disbelief, in the abstract approach to the art of evoking. This dynamic dance inspires within us the passion to engage as we ride the rhythm and feel the beat.
Talking Prophets…
body moves
mind follows
tricks it plays
makes me see
a feathered mess
of angry swallows
helps me project
the path I’ll lay
I find a feather
pick it up
for it foretells
a tale of truth
talking prophets
speak in psalms
of silent words
that wander on
I ponder please
get on my knees
look to the sky
just ask why
birds can sing
but I can’t fly
