The art of ecstasy unfolds as Anna Cleveland takes us ‘Back In the Lime Light’ by Mert & Marcus for W Magazine, September 2015. While pop was prevalent, the other side of the 80’s was an extreme scene. An ode to New York’s infamous club, The Limelight. Debauchery defined, Cleveland and her couture cronies party like it’s 1989. Rich with authentic imagery this story projects a sense of chaotic poignancy. The place is poppin’ with such names as Amber Valletta, Miley Cyrus, Molly Bair, Anna Ewers, Daria Strokous, Lily Aldridge, Pyper America, Saskia Debrauw and Asia Chow. Reflecting on a time when people were committed to the act of free expression. Art becomes her as Anna sits atop a mirror ball riding the theme of disco. Stylist, Edward Enninful, creates fashion combinations all overtly unique yet oddly connected. Modern interpretation makes way for past pleasures in Au Jour Le Jour, Alexandre Vauthier, Balmain, Blumarine, Chic Freak, Christian Benner, Tripp NYC, Delpozo, Dolce & Gabbana, Dsquared2, DVF, Emilio Pucci, Faith Connexion, Haider Ackermann, Neil Barrett, Rodarte, RVDK, Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, Versace & Zadig & Voltaire. Beautiful bodies abound about as each shot is like looking through a kaleidoscope. Shadows scream as (Makeup Artist) Yadim holla’s out to the height of the 80’s. Beauty blasts leaving blue to light up the eyes and red to rile up the lips. Blending is boring, to wear your colors proud is a mark of lustful longings. Yellow races across the face letting lids fly free like a flag of fury. Straight brows loom overhead saying goodbye to the arch and embracing the edge. Hairstylist, Shay Ashual, pays homage to the era by giving the girls bangin’ dews ripe with a retro flavor. Preparing to preen was part of the scene, but walking the walk let you live the dream.
