Molly Bair leads the way as we take on the art of becoming in ‘The New Aesthetic’ by Roe Ethridge for Dazed, Fall 2015. Gone are the days of coiffed perfection in this exciting era of bona-fide beauty. To know where you’re going you have to be comfortable with where you’ve been. Fresh faces give us a sneak peak into the season by showing us what the industry’s been missing. Stylist, Robbie Spencer, is retro-inspired with funky fashions from Alexander McQueen. Dior, Ferragamo, Givenchy, Isabel Marant, Miu Miu, MSGM, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Prada & Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane. The breakdown of new beauty begins as (Makeup Artist) Yadim celebrates the art of youth. Each individual gives off a sense of strength with power that speaks to the passion of now. Amilna fills the page with bright blue eyes, highlighted by a face full of glowing glitter. As red rushes out of Anna’s mouth, spilling onto the skin in a sea of reverie. Extreme images capture our attention with Bair’s crooked teeth that speak to scary-chic. Tape strips lift Cleveland’s eyes, tantalizing the lip as it curls up the edge. Black brows lure above the natural line as Rhiannon takes a bite out of her foe’s finger. Yuan’s six eyes stack on top of each other, as Cierra’s long mustache screams to be seen. Willow & Lineisy blow double bubbles, leaving Varya to smile in over-stretched distortion. Plastique astronauts climb up V’s face as Lego pieces trip us into another decade. Hairstylist, Esther Langham, takes the idea of The New Aesthetic to the next level, with looks that sync into the story rather than present an event. Magnifying glasses help us to see as Molly’s big eyes bring the clarity of creative couture to the forefront.
