Codie Young captures cartoon couture in ‘Jessica Rabbit’ The Disney Issue by Nhu Xuan Hua, UmnO Magazine, F/W 2015. Liquid fantasy floods the page as each picture seethes with sensuality. Her hour-glass figure is unforgettable in one of the most exquisitely mastered editorials we’ve seen this season. Stylist, Yasmina Benabdelkrim, creates a succulent story with rich fashions that scream to be seen. Ode to the art of real red, secrets are stolen with hidden might as my heart is bursting in rouge delight. A musing of the miraculous, to take live action and fuse it with seamless effects is something out of the future. From cartoon to couture Jessica Rabbit is a feast for the fashion imagination. Falling into the plush of a velveteen rush looks are highlighted by the poetry of long, black gloves. Red leather lures us in as soothing silk satisfies, and faux-fur entices as gabardine beguiles. The line between real/animation fades away as we find ourselves lost in the illusion of light. Magic makeup covers the face as Cristina Vila emulates the character through the vivacity of verve. Like watching a storyboard come to life, two worlds collide, as we fall down the Rabbit hole of wonder. Naked on one side colored on the other, subtle shifts make you question her complexion. The more you look the more you see in this tantalizing tale told in semi-3D. High eyebrows and long, exotic lashes stand in stark comparison to clean skin shown in direct opposition. Scarlet lips work both sides as a heart-shaped mouth unites with a kiss. Lit from within, this glowing creature finds herself split straight down the center. Hairstylist, Olivier Henry, mimics the mastery of mirage with strands that fall in fantastical precision over the face. Close your eyes and dare to see beauty that’s waiting to be. Exquisite Art Direction by; DOMINO.
