Ali Michael rides the reigns of freedom in “Queen of the Internet” by Lorenzo Vitturi for Dazed Digital, Autumn/Winter 2015. A compelling take on the art of the approach, by opening up her inner-word, we are made privy to her online interaction. Stylist, Robbie Spencer, gets inside the mind of this wild child with images that speak backwards chic. In a blooming blush of carmine flush, the face is affixed with gems that match. Ruby, red stones are stuck to the bones as nose rings dangle in rich defiance. As the edifice of fixation screams to be seen with earrings that hang off the cheeks in decorative truth. Fashion hits a high haute note with Bianca Chong, Dolly Cohen, Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Maison Margiela, Miu Miu, Prada & Proenza Schouler. Pink and yellow leather are poised to perfection, while a python and plex strap creates a revved up scene. Bianca Chong builds a moon-shaped bag with mirrored accessories that hang off the sides. Hyper modern styles range from a rectangular, metallic bracelet to a matching neo-ring. Oval holes fill the nylons right with rubber neoprene gloves that bring orange to bright. Nothing is off-limits as (Makeup Artist) Nami Yoshida takes us from clean to extreme. Intense shapes frame the face as natural color flows over the eyes. Blue shadow covers the entire lid, breaking over the brows with avant-garde intention. In an ode to Victorian artistry, powdered skin shows its glow with a big, blue beauty mark on the tip of the cheek. Red lips are lined with a searing shine, as the pout is filled with poetic intent. A cherry bombs explodes over the teeth, as garnet tinges the mouth with a scarlet hue. Hairstylist, Kei Terada, lets long locks dipped in a hint of rose touch the tips of the flowing dew. Under a clear eye-mask she lays is quiet harmony, behind shades she drinks from paint dripping down. Subtle in her approach yet overt in her actions, one gets the sense that we can never be entirely sure of Michael’s real intent.
