Anniek Abma wears the palate of perfection in “To the Extreme” by Alexander Staulino for L’Officiel Netherlands, 09/15. The water of life spills over the skin baring out natural elements. Eyes are cast in blue and green with liquid shadow that smears itself in aquatic ecstasy. Behind a wall of smoke noir beauty blasts as, (Makeup Artist) Baltasar G takes us from clean to extreme. Moody, brown shadow covers the brows sweeping up the sides like wings taking flight. Not to be outdone, the lips step up with a black-berry stain, so strong, it steals the show. Vibrant purple explodes around the eyes leaving lines to drip down in a chaotic undertone. As hues of dusty teal draw a straight line down the center, splitting Anniek’s face into two pools of purple. Aflush with a blooming blush, hints of crimson tip-off the top heading into the hairline with tints of similar tones. Creativity speaks, as an arrow points down the chest, slowly fading into aubergine oblivion. Screaming pink makes an appearance as flaming sanguine devours the entire head. In a flood of fuchsia the face is transformed, with white powder covering a portion of one cheek. While upon closer examination we see flashes of tiger like stripes strewn across the skin, as the art of extremity lets us in. Gold and silver convene in the middle as we immerse ourselves in madness. Going for the glow of gorgeous, metallic glimmer shimmers as we celebrate modern makeup. In an ode to 60’s coiffure, hair is sculpted up, silently screaming high to the sky. Liquid jewels rush the body covering everything in gilded glamour. Like spray paint found on the side of a building, this story is told across the sacred ground of the skin. Editorial; Eyeshadowlipstick.
