Riley Montana leads the artistic movement in ‘Afrikart’ captured by Luigi + Iango for Vogue Germany, 12/15. An ode to the women of Burma. The virtuosity of modern craftsmanship for-tells a story as the texture of tenacity casts a spell. An avant-garde interpretation inspired by Africa’s rich, authentic garb. Fashion’s history is told in one of the most exciting editorials of the season. Youth delivers a dynamic take on the art of African dressing with Ajek Dung, Grace Bol, Achok Majak, Mari Agory, Nykhor Paul, Lineisy Montero, Amilna Estevão & Francine James. Stylist, Patti Wilson, has a reckoning of hope as the fundamentals of fabric are found in the creative confines of couture. Clothing mimics the mastery of method with Proenza Schouler, Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, Maison Margiela & Gareth Pugh. The structure of clothing sweeps us up, as Riley wears a graphic dress with a leather fastener and a caged vest. Brass rings stack up the neck with matching bangles that twist in a torrent around the wrists. As bracelets race up the arms reaching toward fingers filled with real gold.
