Kentucky Derby Hats, a Blue-Blood Bore?

Hats from the 2011 Kentucky Derby

In America there is one event every year that brings out the “Ladies in Hats.”  The 2011 Kentucky Derby attracted the typical mix of Wealth, Celebrity, and Wannabees – for a race that has become less about horses than hats. This is a long held tradition, bringing out the Creme of Social Society – all trying to one-up another.  Personally I find the “Derby Hats” a blue-blood bore, lacking any fashion-sense or creativity.

Victoria Beckham, Much ‘Ado about a Dress, Royal Wedding

The many angles of Victoria Beckham

As I predicted, Victoria Beckham arrived at the Royal Wedding in one of her own designs, a customized dress from the VB Fall 2011 Collection.  It would have been FS (fashion suicide) to wear another designer at this stage in her career.  She has managed to make a name for herself within the industry, as well as, cultivate a growing and committed “Celebrity Following”.

Lady Gaga’s Fierce & Fiery Bazaar Cover

Go2 “Celebrity Watch” 4 more Gaga

Lady Gaga graces the cover of May 2011 Harper’s Bazaar with new fiery-red tresses’ and a determined outlook.  In her interview with Derek Blasberg she opens up about everything from prosthetic horns to her interest in living somewhere between “Reality & Fantasy”.  The interview doesn’t expose any real hidden sides to Gaga, but I thought it had moments of introspection and showed that she is a woman highly aware of what is going on around her, and is fully in charge of where she is going in the future.

Britney Likes Being on Top

4 more Britney Go2 Celebrity Obsessions

Well it’s official our little Pop-Diva is back where she belongs, on the top of the Charts.  Femme-Fatale became Britney’s sixth studio-album to debut at #1 this week, when her latest Opus FF sold more than a quarter million copies.

In perfect-pop synchronicity, her 2nd video release from the new album also dropped this week.  ‘Til the World Ends’ gave us another Big Bang from Britney, solitifiying her status as “Comeback Queen” and further letting the world know she’s a serious contender again – she came 2 play.

Tom Ford’s Sexy Spring Shades

The phenomenal Abbey Lee Kershaw 4 Tom Ford Eye-Wear

T’s Philosophy…

Let’s get the formalities out-of-the-way, I’m a Sunglasses Whore.  I am rarely ever seen without a pair.  And this year I am so obsessed with Tom Ford’s new 2011 Spring/Summer Eye-Wear Campaign I can hardly see straight (pun intended).  I believe after a certain age it is sac-religious for a woman to be out in public without a dark pair of fab shades and a super-flattering lip color.

Joe Zee Gives us a “Room with a View”

One of my personal heroes Joe Zee – Creative Director of Elle Magazine – has given us a Room With a View.  In his amazing article “Flying Colors” currently up on Elle.com, he has managed to give us the freshest and most personal look at Spring’s hottest trends by taking us around the world on a guided tour of fashion & inspiration.

With a masterful eye, he has found the trends of Spring alive and well from Buenes Aires to Berlin hidden in the architecture of buildings and the graffiti on city walls.

Out Mag’s Love Issue with Vintage Madonna

Let’s get this out-of-the-way, at fashionCOW.com we high-octane super-love OUT Magazine.  And I think it’s beyond fab that in their words they are, “dedicating our entire April issue to the women who inspire, scandalize, educate, and excite us — in a different way than they excite the other boys”.  That’s just too good!

And leave it to this prolific Pop-Culture Magazine to come up with such a high-spirited, high-concept idea and then for the cherry-on-top offer (for the first time) Dual Covers.

The Rachel Zoe Collection

Last month WWD.com gave us a sneak peak at the Reality Star’s new design project, “The Rachel Zoe Collection”.  At the time of the release of the article WWD sited a manufacturing deal with Li & Fung had been solidified – but the stylist had yet to know where her clothes would be sold.

Is “Label” Really a Dirty Word?

In the wrong hands Labels can be overused & undervalued…..
